Dear Author, I am super pumped for all the ships this year! I put some specifics for each ship in the signup and duplicated down below, but here are my general fanfic likes/dislikes. Please refer to the signup for prompts and DNWs, and I'm sorry in advance for making this so long!

I enjoy all sorts of fic, from PWP to fluffy friendship fic, as long it's the characters I like, though I do prefer romance and I definitely enjoy smut. One of the things I love about hockey RPF in particular is that it's all very masculine? Like I really enjoy that these guys can be tough hockey dudes, but still be expressive about their emotions. You know, like, get hit in the face with a puck, come right back out to play, and give your bros a lot of hugs and tell them how great they are. I also especially love teammates/friends who are supportive but in a teasing kinda way, like, they'll give their buddy shit but affectionately.

For shippy fic, I prefer for it to be getting together/first time rather than established relationship. Exception: two people are in an established relationship and they're getting together with a third person for the first time.

Some tropes I like:

I would like to avoid non-hockey AUs, but here are some AUs I like provided they still involve the players playing hockey:

• BDSM AU (everyone is dom/sub)
• kneeling verse, the one where rookies kneel for veteran players
• A/B/O, but only if the omegas are not feminized and there's no breeding kink/discussion of mpreg (beyond "we need a condom"). Also I prefer not to refer to the characters' dynamics as if they were a different person? Like "his omega wanted to whine" as opposed to "he wanted to whine. I also prefer not to have the characters refer to each other as "alpha" or "omega" during sex or purr/chirp. I'm fine with any genital configurations for alphas and omegas.
• soulmark/soulmate but preferably on the less sappy end and the more subversion end, like, someone being worried that if people find out about their soulmark they'll get in trouble, or the two people not realizing that they have each other's soulmark, or the people who are soulmates are also rivals, or something
• magical realism

Other stuff I like in fic:

I love both these guys, but the main thing that bumps them onto my request list is oh my god they were roommates! Apparently they were roommates often in international competition when they were younger, and I love the idea of either them getting together during one of these events or staying friends since then and getting together later in their NHL careers or at worlds or wherever. Friends to lovers, friends with benefits to lovers, friends to friends with benefits, all of those are good. Sebastian Aho (b. 1997)/Jani Hakanpää


Fun background facts on these two! They played together for Kärpät in 2015-16, the year after Sebastian was drafted, when Sebastian's dad was the GM, and had stalls next to each other. They also played together for team Finland in 2017-18. During the covid pause, Sebastian reportedly called Jani for help learning how to cook, because Jani posts a lot about cooking on his instagram. Then, they were reunited on the Hurricanes in 2020-21.


My dream fic about them would be something like this: Sebastian had the hots for Jani from the beginning. He maybe even made a move on him back when they were playing for Kärpät, when he was 19 or so, but Jani turned him down because 1) he was too young for him and 2) his dad was the GM, and fucking around with the GM's kid felt like a big no-no. But NOW, reunited with Sebastian five years older and on a different team, he doesn't have any excuses -- and Sebastian makes it clear he's still DTF.


Or, if you want an omegaverse twist on that (by no means a requirement, just an idea), it could be fun if Sebastian was an omega and Jani was an alpha, and it's basically the same plot as the above, but with the addition that Sebastian goes off to world juniors during that 15-16 season and comes back smelling like he's been around the block a LOT with his WJC teammates, and now Jani has to sit next to him in the locker room and have Sebastian clearly be interested in him and also clearly not be any kind of blushing virgin, but he still resists...until Raleigh.


Honestly anything like any of this would be fun!


Miro Heiskanen/Roope Hintz


gotta love the finnish mafia and I especially love Miro and Roope! I like how they seem like buddies who probably chirp each other a lot, and how they're both young and working hard. I'd love anything about them, whether it's soft and fluffy or slow burn or pwp or whatever!


One particular idea I like for them, but by all means you don't need to do this because I love other things too, would be a BDSM AU where Miro is a sub and Roope is a dom and Roope is jealous because the team assigned Miro to a veteran dom his rookie season, and maybe Roope thinks at first it's just that he doesn't like the idea of Miro having to be assigned a dom, but really it's because he wants him for himself?


Another thing that would be great for them would be some kind of magical realism au! There are many different things that this could be, such as:
* Miro has the hots for Roope but doesn't know what to do. He calls up Sebastian Aho, who is a magical creature but like, the tricky kind, and asks for help. Sebastian does help people, but his help never takes the form you expect. Miro thinks it's going to be some kind of spell to make himself more attractive or clear his skin or something, but instead he gets cursed with only being able to tell the truth until he finally confesses his feelings to Roope
* One of them has magical abilities and is keeping it a secret from the team. But then ~~something happens~~ and the other one finds out!


But like I said I'm also totally here for any trope, be it fake dating, accidental grindr hookup, they were roommates, whatever!


Leon Draisaitl/Connor McDavid


Ahhh I love them, I love how they just seem like good buddies and they're great together on the ice and they're bearing the weight of the franchise on their shoulders. I'm super interested in friends to lovers kind of stuff for them, especially where Connor is just a complete disaster about it. Leon also seems like a total softie off ice who likes to leave kissy face and boys holding hands emojis on his buddies' instagram posts, so, that kind of soft dynamic would be great. (But of course they can also have angst and be fighty about games.)


If you happened to want to go there, I'm also interested in OT4 with them and their two girlfriends, esp if it's just a happy polycule that starts with their girls being girlfriends with each other and Connor and Leon trying to pretend they're not into each other. I'm also open to an OT3 with Darnell as a third!


Dallas Stars Ensemble/Miro Heiskanen

MIRO IS MY HERO and I love him so much! I would enjoy this in all forms, including but not limited to:
* reward gangbang after scoring some nice goals
* omega Miro goes into heat and the team takes care of him
* sub Miro needs some attention and the team takes care of him
* gangbang for team mojo reasons to win games
* group sex for soul bonding purposes

Leon Draisaitl/Connor McDavid/Matthew Tkachuk


I really like the idea of this polyship in all forms, whether it's a full OT3 or it's a poly V. Some different scenarios:
* BDSM AU, Leon is a dom and he's got Connor and Matthew as subs to fill different needs. Connor is good at obedience and works hard to get rewards, and Matthew is a brat who likes to get smacked around. Maybe Connor and Matthew are kind of catty with each other because they're vying for Leon's attention, and Leon decides to punish them for it by making them fuck each other instead 👀
* Connor and Matthew both have the hots for Leon but neither of them has managed to land him. They train together over the summer and end up banging each other instead...or maybe they get into a competition to see who can get Leon, and the whole thing ends up as an ot3
* Somehow they are all on vacation in the same place at the same time and one thing leads to another!


Jani Hakanpää/Miro Heiskanen


Miro likes big guys and Jani sure is a big guy. Replacing one huge hot D-partner for another? Miro's down for it. But Jani seems to think he's too young! How can Miro manage to get his attention? Maybe he asks Roope for advice, and Roope calls up Sebastian Aho for advice. Finnish rumor mill has plenty of tips on what to do. (This could be fun straight up as is, or in an omegaverse au, or in a BDSM AU, or however!)
