How do people even use twitter, I've been trying for a few days and it's unreadable. I can't figure out what sort of order things are in even though I told it I want chronological order, I can't see the delineations between posts, and I can't decide if I'm supposed to retweet stuff or not because I can't see how I can use it for later reference.

What I liked best about tumblr was that my tagging system could be used so that literally years after the fact, I can easily find those terrible photosets I made of teen wolf or the marco polo gifset that was so tempting I walked into a tree while looking at it. I don't see how or if that's possible with twitter. It's definitely doable with dreamwidth, though.

Anyway, I will try to use twitter if that's where everyone goes, but man, idk if I can handle it. It's more overwhelming than tumblr was when I first got it. Anyway I'll try posting here more and try reusing my same tumblr tags I used to use for organization and we'll see?

Twitter is a hot mess for me too, and I've been on it for over a year at this point. It's all right for small interactions, and it's not a bad place for artists to drop still art, but it's not at all made with any sort of archiving in mind (certainly not personal, which I vastly prefer) and it's a massive pain for trying to hold an actual conversation with anyone.

Depending on how overwhelming it is, there are a few things you can do if you poke around your settings! As soon as they let you turn off people's likes showing up on your timeline, I was all over that. Also, I don't know if they default you to the 'best tweets first' setting for new accounts, but if you go into your account settings I hiiiiiighly suggest turning that off so that your timeline is chronological -- the best tweets first thing tends to hide a lot of stuff you probably want to see if you're following people.

It's still a mess, but that might make things a bit easier, at least. Fortunately, I don't really think people are going to stick with twitter as a main platform any more than it has been? It's pretty probably going to be pillowfort if they get their shit together, and if not, then here (fingers and toes crossed).

pillowfort maybe?

(i meant to offer this before i left tumblr but i still have like 6 extra invites to pillowfort if you wanted to try it out lmao.

it's not exactly 'where everyone's going' but it's enough like tumblr that it's fairly intuitive for the experimentational. and the crowd is warm enough and friendly enough that i feel like it's really worth the tradeoff of 'not many people who know your current obsession.' it's so much easier to make friends.)

ETA 1: (this is clairelutra, by the way :D;;)

ETA 2: i'm really really #trying to recruit more lunoct fans and i think there's a (relatively) strong ignoct faction in the main ffxv community, at least that i've seen.

Twitter is definitely more chaotic. I intend to use it to keep updated on art and some basics, but it’s not the best for writers. Tumblr wasn’t either, but it was easier to wrangle.

I’ll end up moving to Pillowfort too later. But my goal is going to be not putting all my eggs in one basket again.
